  17. In her beguiling 1983 memoir, A Private View, she described her
  18. life as the cosseted daughter of movie mogul Louis B. Mayer and
  19. as the wife of producer David O. Selznick. "I see now," she
  20. wrote, "that I've had three lives--one as the daughter of my
  21. father, another as the wife of my husband. The theatre
  22. furnished me with a third act."
